When we think about the myriad of offerings at Changi Airport, the first things that come to mind are attractions such as the alluring gardens, stunning art installations located across the terminals or perhaps the Rain Vortex in Jewel.

But beyond these places that we know and love, we tend to overlook an essential part of the Changi Experience - toilets. Studies have shown that a person spends an average of nearly three hours a week, or 45 days a year in toilets. That’s an awful lot of time to spend cooped up in a small cubicle!

So we took it upon ourselves to answer the call of duty (and while we are at it, nature) to find the most unique washrooms in Changi to complete your #ChangiExperience. Here’s a look at five of them.

1. Admire the majestic view of the tarmac at these toilets in Terminal 1

Swap the usual plain view for a unique plane view only at this toilet in Terminal 1. Four special urinals in the men’s toilet provide an extraordinary view of the airside where you can watch aircraft land and take off, all while answering the call of nature.

This strangely therapeutic experience guarantees that you’ll find yourself unwittingly spending more time in the toilet than you normally do.

For the ladies, freshen up at the dressing tables located in the washroom and at the same time, enjoy the view of the airside through the mirror. The natural light filtering in does wonders for selfies and is also great for applying your makeup!

2. Freshen up in style in a designated powder room at Terminal 3

A spacious powder room is conveniently located within this toilet in Terminal 3. With plenty of dressing tables equipped with bright lights, comfortable chairs and facial tissues, it is the perfect place to get your makeup on point in between or before flights. Hidden behind a set of curtains is also a dressing room where you can change into a fresh set of clothes!

If you’re seeking for some respite from the crowds in the terminal, the lounge chairs positioned in the powder room are also an excellent option for you to take a rest or even a quick power nap. The best part is - no men are allowed!

3. Reconnect with Singapore’s rich history at this Peranakan-themed toilet in Terminal 4

Take a step into this Peranakan-themed toilet and you’ll find yourself instantly transported to the set of The Little Nyonya.

Nestled in a corner of Terminal 4, known as the Heritage Zone, the toilet features intricate Peranakan tiles and beautiful porcelain pots (also known as Nyonyaware), complete with all the modern amenities you’ll expect in a washroom.

The bathroom adds to the charm of the Heritage Zone where you can discover elaborately designed shophouse façades reminiscent of Katong, Joo Chiat and Chinatown, while enjoying a cultural mini-theatre show on an LED screen disguised as part of the shophouses.

4. Feel like royalty in this posh marble toilet in Terminal 4

Add a touch of class to your Changi itinerary with a visit to this chic washroom before your flight. Fully adorned in marble accents and ambient lighting, this Rolls-Royce of toilets will fit comfortably into any six star hotels around the world.

And of course, no respectable toilet can consider itself luxurious without electronic bidets! These are equipped in every cubicle and will give the ones in Japan a run for their money.

The adventure doesn’t end when you leave the toilet. Step out and you’ll immediately spot the wine red lounge chairs in front of elegant marble walls. Sink into the comfortable chairs and whip out your camera for a final shot for the gram.

5. Take a shot for the gram with a floral wall in this toilet in Jewel

Life is indeed a bed (or wall) of roses in this gem of a toilet at Jewel! Made with fresh, real flowers such as roses, gerberas and hydrangeas, this stunning floral wall is undoubtedly the star of the show in this washroom.

This washroom is one of its kind in Jewel. Even the entrance looks like it’s made for the gram with a floral wreath and a gorgeous marble bench to boot, making it even harder to resist the temptation to snap a few more photos before leaving the toilet.
