Where to score free drinks in Changi Airport

They say the best things in life are free. Well, here at Changi Airport, some of the best things come in the form of free samples and tasters for the connoisseur and the curious.

With some of the world’s largest selections of whiskey, craft beers, wines and other spirits, Changi offers not only duty-free alcohol for purchase, but also complimentary tastings of some of the best and most exclusive liquors in the world. Here is a list of where to go to score free drinks in the transit areas of Changi’s terminals. Keep reading – it gets better and better.

Terminal 1: DFS Wines & Spirits

The Cloud Bar

Probably the coziest of locations on this list, sample a range of cocktails and spirits at The Cloud Bar, located within the departure area of Terminal 1. As The Cloud Bar is fairly small, it offers a limited but specially curated selection of liquor at any point in time, which are rotated every two months.    

 

What makes this bar incredibly unique is its large interactive screen, where you can discover more about each liquor, cocktail, and brand through fun displays and videos, which you can even e-mail to yourself to keep.

Terminal 2: DFS Wines & Spirits Duplex

Central Mix-It Bar (Level 1 of Duplex)

When entering level one of the Wines & Spirits Duplex, the Central Mix-It Bar will be the first thing you see. Just approach the bartender on duty to request for a sample of any of the brands on display. Try new liquors before anyone else in exclusive launches and get a taste of existing classics – and if you purchase a bottle from the brand on promotion, you might even get a free gift-with-purchase!

Wine Reserve (Level 1 of Duplex)

At the Wine Reserve, discover new favourites from the enomatic machine, a special machine dispensing 12 different wines. Feel free to approach the staff on service for complimentary samples before purchasing your wine of choice. Not only can you give these wines a taste, you can also browse a large selection of over 350 products from the world’s top vineyards.

The Whiskey House (Level 2 of Duplex)

A destination in itself, The Whiskey House offers complimentary samples from more than 100 whiskies. If you’re lucky, you may even witness brand ambassadors from the likes of Craigellachie, Bacardi and Macallan host tastings when new whiskeys are launched.

Terminal 3: DFS Wines & Spirits Duplex

Central Mix-It Bar (Level 1 of Duplex)

Similar to its counterpart in Terminal 2, the Central Mix-It Bar here in Terminal 3 offers a wide range of new and classic spirits for you to sample from. With master blenders and distillers visiting regularly for exclusive global product launches and sampling sessions, the Central Mix-It Bar is certainly a must to visit before your flight out.

Long Bar by Raffles (Level 2 of Duplex)

Sit down, relax and enjoy one or more cocktails on the house, handcrafted by knowledgeable bartenders at the Long Bar by Raffles. Offering a slice of Singaporean heritage, this is the only other place in the world besides Raffles Hotel itself (the creator of the iconic Singapore Sling) where you can try the original recipe of the Singapore Sling.

If you’re feeling versatile, you can also pick your ‘poison’ from a menu of nine other cocktails, like the Mojito and Dry Martini!

Terminal 4: DFS Wines & Spirits

The Cocktail Bar

Ever wished you could recreate your favourite cocktail at home? Here at The Cocktail Bar, you can try out the basics of cocktail-making with the guidance of an experienced bartender. Try your hand at one of the three recipes available and taste the fruits of your labour after. As if that’s not enough, you can also sample new spirits that are launched here from time to time.

The Whiskey House

Taste classics and special releases in one sitting at The Whiskey House. “The” destination for guests to experience the world of whiskey, explore over 100 different whiskies through complimentary tastings. Look out for master distillers and brand ambassadors who make regular appearances to introduce new releases, provide guided tastings and recommend food pairings. We recommend serious whiskey fiends to check with brands ahead of time for any special events.

The Craft Collection

Hoping to inspire a new generation of brewers and distillers, The Craft Collection provides craft beers and ciders on tap and small-batch spirits for complimentary sampling. You may even get to try local craft beers such as Sibeh Ho, which is brewed right here in Singapore by local brewery Archipelago Brewery. The beers and ciders on tap are rotated regularly so it never gets boring!
