Find yourself drinking so much coffee it’s part of your daily grind? If you have a brewing passion for coffee, the latest Starbucks, located at Terminal 3’s Departure Hall has a Reserve Coffee Bar that gives you the opportunity to learn what a satisfying cuppa embodies.

Unlike a regular Starbucks, Starbucks Reserve provides a unique experience with Coffee Masters giving you insights on signature roasts, brewing methods and food pairings.

One of the popular brewing methods in this store is using the Chemex, an hourglass shaped brewer dating up to 76 years of history. It is every coffee connoisseurs’ essential, and here’s how to brew up a storm with the Chemex!

Now that you’ve got a dose of coffee inspiration, here are some tips and tricks by our Coffee Master on how to get the ultimate coffee tasting experience.

1. Know your coffee beans

Though coffee originated from Ethiopia, beans are now grown in all parts of the world and they all taste different. However, if you’re new to the coffee scene, fret not! The amiable Starbucks Coffee Masters will walk you through selecting the perfect beans matching your favourite flavour profile. 

2. Explore Different Brewing Methods

Coffee lovers don’t just stop at one cup, right? Try other brewing methods like the Pour Over and Clover as each produces coffee with unique characteristics. For instance, the Chemex is known to brew a clean cup of coffee, while the Pour Over has a subtle rustic grittiness.  

3. Drink with your senses

Let’s be honest, we’re so used to chugging down our morning coffee that we miss out on truly appreciating it. Get a wholesome coffee experience with 4 fundamental steps of coffee tasting – smelling, slurping, locating it on your tongue and describing. All these can help you soak in coffee aromas, taste thoroughly, identify the weight of coffee and feel like a real coffee connoisseur.
