Mr Merlion & Friends has debuted a pop-up store in Jewel Changi Airport in conjunction with National Day, available till 22 August! Located at Level 2, the pop-up store has T-shirts, tote bags, plushies, die-cut stickers and more, all featuring Singapore’s well-loved mascot – the Merlion!
The Merlion is iconic and synonymous with the little red dot we call home. A mythical creature with the head of a lion and the body of a fish, it can be found in various locations in Singapore such as the Merlion Park near the central business district, where water can be seen spewing from its mouth. It can also be found on the third series of S$1 coins currently in circulation, which depict well known landmarks in Singapore.
Once you enter the pop-up, you’ll definitely not miss the towering display of Mr Merlion plushies right in the centre! The soft and adorable plushies (S$35 each) come in various pastel colours, featuring Mr Merlion and all his friends, ensuring that there is a colour suitable for everyone! If you’d prefer something that can showcase your love for Mr Merlion on the go, miniature-sized plushies are also available as keychains.
The Pick-A-Name plates (prices start from S$15 for the small plates and from S$18 for the big plates) are customisable and feature a wide variety of characters, including characters from Inside Out, Monsters, Inc., and Mickey Mouse and his friends. If you’re planning to travel soon, accessorise your travel bag or luggage with these customisable name tags.
The pop-up also has different photo spots for you to snap photos with Mr Merlion! Each photo spot has a different Singapore-themed background, so be sure to pop down to check of all of them out. There is also a photobooth (S$2 for two photo strips) where you can select from eight custom designs and have them printed on the spot!
The die-cut stickers are also a great way to decorate your personal belongings! Choose from a wide range of stickers, featuring local cuisines such as chilli crab and kaya toast, and one of Singaporean’s most beloved fruits – durian. Our favourites are the Singlish-inspired ones, perfect for showcasing your fluency in Singlish. Choped!
There is also a colouring corner where kids can try their hands at colouring various designs featuring Mr Merlion! Kids can also look forward to the Mr Merlion Mascot meet-and-greet sessions happening on 8 August 2024 (7:00pm and –8:00pm) and 9 August 2024 (1:00pm, 2:00pm and 4:00pm). The pop-up will be open until 22 August, so do hurry down to check it out!
