Weekend getaway options from Singapore just got even better with new Scoot flights from Changi Airport that bring travellers straight to Malacca and Subang in Malaysia, and Kertajati in Indonesia. Of these, Malacca and Kertajati are brand new connections from Changi Airport. The new flights from Singapore Changi Airport to Malacca will also be the shortest flights departing from Changi.

Kicking things off on 1 September 2024 will be Scoot’s inaugural flight to Subang. This will be followed by Kertajati on 28 September 2024, and finally, Malacca on 23 October 2024.

The new flights to Malacca and Kertajati will be operated on Scoot’s new Embraer jets (E190-E2) that have recently made their debut in Changi Airport. The flight to Subang will be serviced by the Airbus A320 aircraft.

The new flights from Changi Airport to Subang Airport will take approximately one hour and 15 minutes.

The connection from Changi Airport to Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport, also known as Subang Airport, will provide travellers with another way to get to Kuala Lumpur. Currently, travellers can reach Kuala Lumpur via flights from Changi Airport to Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), or from Seletar Airport to Subang Airport. The Singapore-Kuala Lumpur route was ranked as the busiest international route in 2023 by seat capacity.

This new flight option will be a daily service that will depart from Changi Airport at 11:55am and arrive at Subang Airport at 1:10pm. The return flight will depart from Subang Airport at 2:10pm and arrive at Changi Airport at 3:20pm. This is subject to government and regulatory approvals or changes.

Choosing a flight to Subang Airport can offer some advantages if your destination is Kuala Lumpur city centre. KLIA is the more well-known option to get to the KL city centre but it takes about an hour by car. As Subang Airport is much nearer to the city centre, the car journey will only take about half an hour, providing good time savings to travellers. Subang Airport is also a relatively smaller airport than KLIA, so you will likely encounter shorter immigration queues and wait times. The flight time from Singapore to Subang is only about one hour.

Malacca’s Christ Church is the iconic red building that you have to check out during your trip there.

Bandung’s famous Patenggang lake is so pristine and scenic, almost out of a fairytale!

With Changi Airport’s first-ever connection to Malacca International Airport, travellers will be able to steer away from the heavy traffic at the Johor-Singapore causeway, saving travellers time when driving to this popular destination in southwest Malaysia. What used to be a 3.5 hour drive is now a 55 minute flight onboard Scoot’s Embraer jet. Scoot will fly five-times weekly from Changi Airport to Malacca International Airport from 23 October 2024.

If you are planning to travel to Bandung from Singapore, it’s time to rejoice because you can now fly directly to Kertajati International Airport, which is a one-hour drive to the city centre. Currently, travellers will have to fly to Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Jakarta, and then take a three-hour car journey to Bandung. With the new direct flight to Kertajati International Airport, the travelling time on the road will be cut by more than half, making it more convenient for travellers to reach Bandung from Singapore. The flight from Singapore to Bandung will take about one hour and will be served twice every week by Scoot.

If you are looking for a quick and relaxing getaway, consider these regional destinations that are newly connected to Changi Airport, with so much to offer. From a heritage tour in Malacca, to a culinary exploration in Kuala Lumpur and a beautiful nature retreat in Bandung, travelling to these destinations is now a very short flight away.

Additional flight options by Scoot to other Southeast Asian destinations

Scoot will also be deploying its new Embraer jets on its existing routes to Balikpapan, Pekanbaru and Makassar in Indonesia, Vientiane in Laos and Davao in the Philippines. If you are planning a trip to these destinations, look out for flights serviced by the Embraer jets and experience a new way to fly. Enjoy a ride with quieter engines, larger cabin windows to enjoy the views and the comfort of 2x2 seating - no more squeezing into middle seats.

Scoot’s new Embraer jets boast spacious 2x2 seating where no passenger has to squeeze in the middle seat.

These follow  Scoot’s earlier announcement in March 2024 when it launched its first routes serviced by the Embraer jets. It included regional destinations such as Krabi, Hat Yai, Sibu, Miri, Koh Samui and Kuantan.
