19 June 2022 marks Father’s Day – a day we celebrate the hero in our lives. But besides taking dad out to a scrumptious meal together, how else can we make it a memorable affair for them?
Enter Jewel Changi Airport. With activities ranging from getting a fresh, new gentlemen’s haircut together to sampling the unique combination of wine and bakkwa, there will never be a dull moment on the agenda. If you were wondering about things to do with dad this Father’s Day, here’s a list of considerations to check out!
1. Get a new gentlemen’s haircut together at Sultans Of Shave
The family that grooms together, stays together. Whether you're looking to have some son-dad bonding time, or simply gifting dad a fresh, new look, Sultans Of Shave is your best bet when it comes to men’s grooming.
Located at Level 4 of Jewel, the cosy boutique barber invites you in with wall arches and monochromatic floors. Here, treat dad to a haircut, shaving services or even a facial – all while the dedicated crew ensures utmost relaxation. All visits include a consultation at the start, a wash and a finish off with their range of grooming products, customised to personal preferences. Trust us, dad will never look this dapper!
Location: #04-240, Jewel Changi Airport
Opening hours: Monday to Thursday – 11:00am to 8:00pm; Friday to Sunday, Eve of Public Holiday and Public Holiday – 11:00am to 8:30pm
2. Learn more about Changi Airport at Changi Experience Studio
Beyond the Canopy Park, Hedge Maze and Sky Nets, there’s also the Changi Experience Studio to visit at Jewel if dad prefers to check out Changi attractions at a more laidback pace. Visitors are treated to visual and interactive displays showcasing the best highlights of what Changi Airport has to offer, through education games and shows.
The full 90-minute walkthrough boasts fun features like a singing garden, an airport runway race, and a fun challenge to collect as many airport trolleys as possible – take this opportunity to challenge dad to see who’s more competitive!
That’s not all. With the June school holidays in full swing, Changi Experience Studio will also be hosting A Night at the Airport Family Camp until 25 June 2022, which includes plenty of family-friendly craft activities, board games and a sleepover in a personal tent. Alternatively, sign up for day tours and workshops from now till 26 June 2022, where families can learn more about engineering and robotics. Perfect for some family bonding with younger kids.
Location: Level 4, Jewel Changi Airport
Opening hours: Opens daily from 11:00am to 8:00pm (Last admission at 7:00pm)
3. Relive Charlie Brown and Snoopy’s Friendship at the PEANUTS pop-up exhibition
June marks one of the hottest months in Singapore, but don’t let dad sweat buckets by taking him over to the all-new The Snoopy Adventure pop-up at Terminal 3. Open until 11 July 2022, the exhibition has plenty of photo spots and even a snow-themed hangout where you and dad can make memories together.
Escape the heat and “teleport” to a cold climate by entering the Peanuts Snow Hangout. To enter the indoor space boasting sub-zero degrees, guests will need to don winter jackets, gloves and grip shoes. Once assimilated with the cold, go on a snow adventure by having a go at the mini slide, dig through snow with excavators, make snow angels, or even have a snowball fight with the fam!
Alternatively, keep a lookout for many other Snoopy-themed photo spots around T3, including a giant topiary of Snoopy and Woodstock skating and a colouring station suitable for kids.
Direct entry to the Peanuts Snow Hangout costs S$18 per pax, or you can get a discounted entry pass at just S$5 with every S$30 spent in a single receipt or S$50 for supermarket – time to get shopping!
Location: Terminal 3 Departure Hall
Operating hours: Opens daily from 11:00am to 10:00pm
4. Have a bakkwa and wine pairing session at Bee Cheng Hiang
If you and dad need a break from the tonne of activities to check out during your weekend, settle in at the Bee Cheng Hiang outlet at Jewel for some unique Father’s Day food.
Don’t just expect the usual bakkwa options for takeaway here – there are also bakkwa and wine pairing sessions to really bring out the flavour of the different sizzling meats. Nestled in the corner of the concept store, the bar counter and booth will provide a cosy spot for you and dad to catch up over the combination.
The wines are procured from Bordeaux, France by a wine specialist, and you can order by the glass or get a bottle to share. Consult the staff onsite to recommend a wine to your preference and watch as your bakkwa gets grilled live before you at the grilling station – a concept also found at the Bee Cheng Hiang Grillery at Serangoon.
But if you're thinking of enjoying the bakkwa at home, you can also pair it with brandy for a different experience!
Location: #01-226, Jewel Changi Airport
Operating hours: Monday to Thursday – 10:30am to 9:30pm; Friday to Sunday and Public Holiday – 10:00am to 10:00pm
5. Shop for new sportswear and equipment
No Father’s Day is truly complete without a Father’s Day gift. To make the man of the day feel extra special, why not bring him on a shopping spree for new sports apparel or gear at the two-storey Nike store?
As one of the many Jewel shops retailing sportswear, the Nike concept store has racks after racks of the latest sneaker and merch drops, so you can pick out a swaggy new OOTD for dad. What’s also special about this store is how you can customise your purchases at a top-up fee, including shirt printing and patches.
To further encourage dad to live a more active lifestyle, you can also visit other brands like Puma, adidas, New Balance and Foot Locker and continue your shopping date!
Location: #02-232/233, Jewel Changi Airport
Operating hours: Opens daily from 11:00am to 9:30pm
Whether daddy dearest is a foodie and wine connoisseur at heart, or deserves an appearance overhaul with a new hairdo and clothes, Changi Airport and Jewel will have your back this Father’s Day weekend. The best part? The multitude of activities means you can spend a full-day visit and never get bored, all while still enjoying the cool comfort of being indoors.
