4 Fun Ideas to Escape the Rainy Weather with Your Kids in Singapore

Even sunny Singapore has its monsoon seasons. But you don’t have to let the showers and dark clouds rain on your parade. Is planning an itinerary filled with outdoor activities for your kids no longer an option? If you’re looking for something more thrilling than just blocks and building toys, there are plenty of fun things to do indoors beyond the usual Singapore attractions for younger children, teenagers and adults of all ages.

1. Spend a super day at SuperPark

Recommended for ages three and above

Hailing all the way from Finland, SuperPark is a one-stop destination for people of all ages to let loose and have fun. Their Adventure Area, for instance, includes a Kid’s Gym, Flying Fox, Tube Slide and Ninja Track — where the whole family can maneuver through seven different kinds of obstacles while putting your agility, strength, balance and coordination to the test.

For the sportier kids, there’s also the Game Arena, which is the ultimate kids’ play area. Some of the many fun activities you can try your hands on include baseball, bowling, soccer, and more. And if these don’t drain their energy, a jumping good time at the Trampoline Platform in the Freestyle Hall sure will!

Good to know: Best bring along a change of clothes and try to book your entrance tickets online in advance to avoid disappointment. Make sure you check the height limits of the different activities and adhere to all safety precautions here too (for instance, some arenas require you to be in covered shoes).

Cost: Ranges from S$19.90 to S$33.90 per person depending on the session and the individual’s age - tickets can be purchased up to a month in advance. Children under one can enter at no additional cost, but free entry is only limited to four per family. Note that with heightened safety measures, visitors may visit the park in groups of two. Family members from the same household can visit SuperPark in larger groups but will still be required to split into groups of two without intermingling.

2. Scale up greater heights at Clip ‘n Climb

Recommended for ages four and above

Clip ‘n Climb is no ordinary rock climbing facility that you would find elsewhere in Singapore. If rock climbing at some of the best locations in Asia is in your bucket list, this one's for you! It has 19 different walls, each decked out in vibrant colours and quirky themes to explore. Definitely a kid’s indoor playground that’s been taken to new heights - literally! So get your climbing shoes on!

Climbing here is for anyone, even if you’ve never climbed before. Scale up the Face-to-Face where two people climb up a translucent wall on opposite sides, or the Spaghetti Junction where you use strings to pull yourself up. If you’re up for the challenge, you can tackle the highest difficulty of them all, the Triffid, seemingly inspired by Jack and the Beanstalk. With so many themes to choose from, even parents will work out a sweat while having plenty of fun.

Good to know: While there are no age limits to entering the facility, climbers have to at least weigh 10kg for safety reasons. Children below four years old also have to be accompanied by parents (who will have to pay full admission fee to keep watch over the kids even if you’re not climbing, so you might as well). Above all, don’t worry because professional trainers are always on the stand-by to provide assistance! Also note that there are strictly no rescheduling of dates, time slots or refunds once bookings have been confirmed.

3. Take a breather and incite the senses at The Artground

Recommended for ages 12 and below

If you’ve a quieter child who prefers experiencing the world through sensory play, then The Artground is sure to entertain, rain or shine.

Encouraging the kids to engage in interactive visual art spaces and hone their motor skills, The Artground organises various activities from participative performances and storytelling sessions to arts & crafts and gardening-inspired workshops. All in the belief that a child should be given the opportunity to keep an inquisitive mind as they grow up! Meaningful play even for a non-rainy day, if you ask us!

Good to know: The Artground renews their programmes regularly to keep their activities fresh and relevant, so be sure to check their website for ongoing events before you make a booking. Currently, there are designated time slots for families to visit the facility, and are required to pre-book a time slot ahead of time. So, if you plan to attend a Programme, book your tickets, and arrive 10 minutes early as latecomers will be denied entry and no refunds will be issued.

4. Last run with Mother Nature at the Jewel Changi Canopy Park

Recommended for all ages (age six and above for certain attractions)

Ask any Singaporean about an iconic attraction and Changi Airport is bound to be one of them. However, more than a travel pitstop or mere standout attraction, Changi Airport is now home to Jewel that boasts attractions that are a must add to your list of garden adventures. Since one of the perfect ways to get your kids in touch with their senses is to let them freely interact with nature, heading to Jewel Changi’s Canopy Park is a must! A 14,000sqm recreational wonderland, the Canopy Park is situated at the top floor of Jewel. With several things to do at the Canopy Park, be sure to set aside time so that you can venture the entire area!

Besides individual attractions like the Hedge Maze and Manulife Sky Nets for a bouncing good time (a whopping 8m above ground!), the Canopy Park houses a Petal Garden and Topiary Walk where your little ones can run free amongst life-size floral structures of wildlife’s favourite creatures while enjoying plenty of natural foliage. With much to do amidst this luscious foliage, both the young and old in your family will never run out of things to do.

Good to know: Although infants below the age of three are allowed into the Canopy Park, children under 12 years old must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Lose items such as mobile devices and keys should be kept in a small bag or stored in lockers before entry. If you’re entering the Sky Nets, make sure you’re properly dressed in covered shoes as well.
