While you're out enjoying all that Singapore has to offer, remember to observe good hygiene measures and practice safe distancing. Stay safe!
East side, best side ā not just for good food, but also for the myriad of outdoor activities you can find in the Changi Precinct. For those who love the Eastern part of Singapore, here are some heart-pumping couple things to do in Singapore, where you can fit exercise into your day while taking cute ācouple photosā for the āgram.
Some of these places are hidden spots Iāve discovered over the years of staying in the east. You may not find them tagged on Google Maps, so Iāve added the addresses of each spot for you to better locate them.
Running in search of the best sunrise (and sunsets) for romantic settings
1. Sunrise View along Tanah Merah Coast Road for the adventurous
Start the day with your other half by going on a healthy morning cycle! For those who are always looking for good sunrise spots in Singapore, this spot thatās dubbed āSunrise View' by people in the know, is only accessible on either two feet or two wheels. Yes, youāve got to be walking, running or cycling to catch this lovely view as thereās no parking nearby. One possible place to start your journey from would be to park at Changi Beach Car Park 6, located about 8km from the location. Quite possibly one of the most understated places to visit in Singapore that boasts breathtaking views of the horizon, Sunrise View allows you to watch the sunrise, unblocked. Thereās no proper shelter here, just a little elevated area along Tanah Merah Coast Road to stop and soak in the sight, so donāt expect benches to rest on.
For couples who prefer to sleep in and cycle in the evening instead, you can also spot the sunset from a different angle here from Changi East.
Pro Tip: To catch the sunrise, you might need to rent your bike overnight as most bike rental shops in the area open only after sunrise.
Address: Sunrise View at Tanah Merah Coast Road
GPS location: 1.3343672, 104.0227745
2. Tanah Merah Besar Road for aviation geeks
Many of us probably miss travelling. But not to worry, thereās a good spot along Tanah Merah Besar Road that comes close to Changi Airportās runway where you can watch planes take off and land with your partner. Perhaps play a game of name-the-airline, or dream of your next romantic getaway together!
To get here, you may wish to park at the nearby Changi Chapel car park and take a short jog to this spot (less than 1km). There are also a number of dining options nearby, such as the Bark CafƩ, with a mix of local and Western food. There is also 555 Villa Thai, which offers Thai Mookata with a splendid view of Changi Airport in the background. Both restaurants have excellent chill vibes perfect for any date night, starting with a sundowner.
Address: Tanah Merah Besar Road
GPS location: 1.3590330, 103.9787383
3. Changi Boardwalk for those who prefer to take it slow
If youād prefer not to sweat it out, the Changi Point Coastal Walk is accessible by car. This is an easy and comfortable walk stretching approximately 2.2km. You can park at Singaporeās hidden gem tucked away from the bustling city, Changi Village, and a short walk will take you to the boardwalk. This is next to the famous Changi Village Hawker Centre, so be sure to grab some local hawker fare, like the famous Nasi Lemak, to end off your date night. If you prefer something fancier, Coachman Inn Restaurant at Changi Sailing Club is another great option, for drinks and dinner over sunset. Parking is also readily available here.
Pro Tip: The most instagrammable spot is the āKelong Walkā located about 1.6km from the starting point, so factor in more time to walk there!
Address: 6 Changi Village Road, Singapore 509907
Cycling around the Changi Precinct for epic photo spots
4. Try a jump shot along the Jurassic Mile
If youāre bored of cycling at East Coast Park, bring your partner to the new Changi Airport Connector and visit the Jurassic Mile. For a dramatic photo pit stop for your cycling adventure, and also to challenge your partnerās photography skills, try a jump shot in front of the dinosaurs at Jurassic Mile. And of course, to get that perfect shot, be sure to grab your digital camera. If taking snapshots with your phone is more your cup of tea, a mobile tripod and monopod will work too!
For an up-close encounter with these dinosaurs, venture closer to T2 to take photos with the 11 new dinosaurs along Changi Airport Connector. These dinosaurs were part of Changi Airportās Changi Festive Village year-end event in 2020 and have been moved here to get a new lease of life. These dinosaurs are not behind netting and would be perfect for your pictures!
For a softer, romantic vibe, visit at night as Jurassic Mile is open 24/7.
Pro Tip: You can rent your bike from GoCycling outlets at East Coast Park and return them at T2. You can also have a meal at Hub & Spoke cafƩ, located right next to the GoCycling bike rental shop at T2.
Address: Jurassic Mile is near Terminal 4ās Carpark 4A.
5. Changi Coastal Park Connector ā a hidden spot with a tiny beach
If youāre tired of the overly crowded beaches at East Coast Park, the Changi Coastal Park Connector is a gorgeous spot for your cycling adventure pit stop. Here, you can bring out your picnic mats and packed sandwiches, and admire unblocked views of the Singapore Strait. The path here is refreshingly left untouched (other than the cycling/running path itself) and filled with the smells of nature ā I absolutely loved cycling through this connector, and it is worth the slight detour off the main path.
If youāre cycling here from Jurassic Mile, follow the signs leading towards East Coast Park, and turn left just before you reach the MOE Changi Coast Outdoor Adventure Learning Centre.
Fun fact: The tiny beach is really named āTiny Beachā on Google Maps!
Address: Coastal Park Connector (can be found on Google Maps)
6. Aviation Park Road ā strikingly straight road as leading lines for your photos
Aviation Park Road circles the perimeter of Changi Airport. Other than being able to catch planes taking off and landing, you will also be able to find many gorgeous spots to take photos of your other half.
Address: Aviation Park Road (Coastal Park Connector starts from Changi Beach Park Car Park 7)
GPS location: 1.3693127, 104.0059154 for the pictures above.
Hiking or having a splashing good time for those who arenāt afraid of getting dirty
7. Water activities galore at Pasir Ris Park
If island hopping and kayaking in Pulau Ubin is too far a stretch for you, Pasir Ris Park could be your go-to location for some activities, even watersports. From Kayaking to paddleboarding, there are a host of water activities you can choose from at Pasir Ris Park! For couples who are up for a good challenge, rent single kayaks and race each other up and down the coast for some fun and laughter. You can also opt for double kayaks to have some quiet couple time while floating in the open sea.
For those who would like to engage in more meaningful activities, you can sign up for coastal clean-up sessions. For the nature-lovers, opt for a tour to the Ubin town fish farms.
Pro Tip: Bring along your water-proof cameras for photos and videos of your adventure.
Address: Pasir Ris Park has many entrances, but if youāre looking for the water activities, you can check out Adventure Paddlers (Ohana Beach House @ Pasir Ris Beach Park, off carpark A)
8. Hiking at Tampines Eco Green
Surprisingly located near HDB blocks, Tampines Eco Green is a hidden find in the east with hiking trails where you can explore freshwater wetlands and a wide variety of flora and fauna found throughout this place. Since the park is left mostly untouched, be sure to put on proper trekking shoes to conquer the trails.
No cycling is allowed here, and you would have to go on foot. But this is a short trek ā just 3km. I found it a relatively quiet spot even when I visited on weekends, so definitely a good place to spend some quality time with your significant other.
To reach the main entrance, park at Block 408, Tampines Street 41 (10-minute walk). Alternatively, take buses 28, 29 or 293 to the closest bus stop located along Tampines Avenue 9 (Stop ID: 76361 or 76369), it will be a 15-minute walk to the start point.
Pro Tip: Do bring a mosquito off-spray along when you visit. Plan your trip for daytime, as there are no lights along the paths.
Address: Tampines Eco Green, between Tampines Avenue 9 and Tampines Avenue 12.
Exercising and staying in shape as a couple will definitely be more fun and exciting with these new east-side spots to explore. So, start adding them to your checklist of places to visit and things to do together today.
