Pro tip: The discounts here are already spectacular but get an even larger discount at most of these outlets by keeping a lookout for special weekend or public holiday discounts. You can refer to the various malls’ websites or Facebook pages to do some research before heading down.

1. Get a Dose of Retail Therapy at Changi City Point

The first mall is not only the ideal spot for shopping because it is home to a vast array of factory outlets of various brands, but also because it’s a short train ride away from Changi Airport. So, for those who are looking for more ways than one to shop till you drop, you can just hop on over to another shopping paradise - Jewel Changi Airport. Changi City Point is a sprawling 4-storey mall that comes with plenty of greenery, including a landscaped rooftop garden, a treehouse trail and even an omni-theatre on the third floor!

What makes it a favourite among locals living in the east of Singapore are factory outlets of sporting mainstays like New Balance, Nike, Adidas, Puma, Asics and Royal Sporting House where discounts offered are 20 to 60% off normal retail prices. You could be forgiven for not thinking much of Anchorpoint, with its decidedly less modern façade. This inconspicuousness has its upsides; shopping here is a leisurely experience compared to the crowd of meatball and furniture-lovers thronging through the IKEA next door.

The outlet selection at Anchorpoint consists of Australian fast fashion brands, such as Billabong, Cotton On and sister stationery and gift brand, Typo. If you ever find yourself questioning where is the cheapest place to buy things in Singapore, ask any Singaporean, and they will tell you it’s Mustafa Centre. Though its operating hours have been temporarily cut short, this megamall has been the favourite haunt of Singapore’s night owls since the 70s. Featuring anything and everything you can think of, Mustafa Centre stocks a staggering and sometimes bewildering inventory, from fresh vegetables, clothes and toys to even jewellery, cosmetics and electronics!
