Rainforest Wild Asia, the latest attraction nestled within the Mandai Wildlife Reserve, is opening on March 12, 2025. This 13-hectare park offers an immersive journey through the lush rainforests and incredible biodiversity of Southeast Asia. It already promises to be the ultimate destination for rainforest exploration, education, and excitement packed into one.

Experience 8 Rainforest Zones & Amazing Wildlife Encounters

Rainforest Wild Asia recreates the beauty of a tropical rainforest, offering visitors an immersive exploration or a quick escape from city life. Across eight distinct zones, you’ll have the chance to experience every layer of this extraordinary ecosystem—encountering 36 animal species, including rare ones like the François’ langur and the Philippine spotted deer. Other highlights include spotting Malayan tigers prowling their habitats or coming face-to-face with Malayan sun bears—all from safe yet intimate vantage points.

We got a sneak peek, and truly felt like we were hiking through a Southeast Asian rainforest. Here’s an overview of what you can look forward to at Asia’s first adventure-based zoological park.

Our journey begins at the Entrance Gorge, which is like a portal that one enters and finds oneself in nature’s serenity. Here, you’ll be soothed by the sounds of the waterfalls and meet freshwater species like the Asian arowana and Southern river terrapin. Moving beyond this point, the choice to shape your experience becomes evident, with wayfinding signs revealing the different paths, you can choose to take the elevated pathway, where treetop vistas and aerial perspectives await. Or, you can choose to immerse yourself in the Forest Floor, where every step brings you closer to wildlife encounters.

At the Forest Floor, one has to crouch under tangles of roots or climb over fallen logs, where you might just meet a shy mousedeer peeking out from the undergrowth. Keep an eye out for the friendly, free-roaming tortoises, and you might even catch a glimpse of a tiger behind the bamboo fence!

Ascend to new heights on the Predator and Prey Trails! Enjoy breathtaking views of the rainforest canopy and spot amazing wildlife, including tigers relaxing by the Tiger Waterfalls.

Heading into The Rock Cascade, you’ll walk among tall grasses, bamboo groves, and towering trees, all while getting a rare glimpse of Malayan tigers in action. Adding to the thrill of exploration, the zone features a variety of bridges, including bamboo, root, and log bridges.

The Watering Hole is the largest zone in Rainforest Wild Asia, offering an immersive look at how water shapes and sustains life in the rainforest ecosystem. Here, you’ll come across fascinating species such as the playful Malayan sun bear, the gentle Malayan tapir, and the mighty estuarine crocodile. The zone also features a flexible habitat that rotates species like the babirusa, red dhole, and bearded pig, encouraging dynamic interactions that showcase their natural behaviours.

The final exploration is The Cavern, a cooling 220-metre underground labyrinth inspired by Southeast Asia’s legendary Mulu Caves. This subterranean realm, towering rock formations and mysterious chambers create an atmosphere that’s both dramatic and ethereal. Here, darkness reveals its own fascinating residents – watch for the distinctive Madagascar hissing cockroach, observe the remarkable cave racer reptiles, and catch glimpses of Asian black scorpions.

For those seeking more adrenaline-pumping activities, Rainforest Wild Asia delivers through its Adventure+ and Black Adventure programmes, operated by Forest Adventure.

The Adventure Plus series offers exhilarating activities like the Canopy Jump, which simulates a free-fall from heights of up to 20 metres. Head to the AIA Vitality Bounce, a treetop trampoline paradise three to seven metres above ground, perfect for a wholesome family challenge. The Critter Crawl allows braver participants to crawl through a dimly lit 60-metre cave tunnel, navigating hanging stalactites and rock formations. Just remember that adventure activities require closed-toe shoes, so be sure to pack accordingly for your visit!

For the truly daring, the Black Adventure experiences elevate exploration to a new level. The Wild Apex Adventure involves a harnessed trek through elevated via ferrata paths, metal rungs, and rocky bridges as you climb as high as 20 metres. Meanwhile, the Wild Cavern Adventure is a simulated caving expedition where guests abseil in darkness, squeeze through cave crevices, and emerge at the Oculus—a perfect spot for a breathtaking photo finish.

Dining in Nature

After an adventure-filled day exploring Rainforest Wild Asia, visitors can take a quick respite from the heat and refuel at one of the four dining options scattered across the park.

If you’re looking for an exotic culinary experience, don’t miss the Cavern Restaurant. This one-of-a-kind dining establishment is Singapore’s first-ever cave-themed restaurant.

By day, this Tung Lok Group-operated space offers hearty grilled meats and vibrant shared platters in an awe-inspiring subterranean setting. By night, the Cavern transforms into an elegant venue ideal for date nights or private gatherings. This restaurant is accessible to the public without requiring park entry.

Plan Your Visit

Rainforest Wild Asia opens daily from 9:00am to 6:00pm, with the last entry at 5:00pm. Tickets are now available online, starting at S$43 for adults, S$31 for children (ages 3-12), and S$20 for senior citizens. To celebrate the opening, local residents can enjoy promotional pricing at S$33 for adults and S$21 for children from 12 February to 31 March 2025. Add-ons like Adventure Plus experiences start at S$15, while the Black Adventure tours are priced at S$192 for a full three-hour guided experience.

For repeat visitors, membership options such as the Friends of Rainforest Wild Asia offer unlimited annual access alongside exclusive perks like retail discounts and priority access. Membership prices start at S$130 annually. If you're already a Friends of Wildlife member, you can continue to enjoy all the benefits and access to Bird Paradise, Night Safari, River Wonders, and Singapore Zoo until your membership expires. If you've missed it, the Friends of Wildlife membership will be replaced with new 5-park memberships that include Rainforest Wild Asia, offering even more value and benefits!

Rainforest Wild Asia is just the beginning of Mandai Wildlife Group’s ambitious vision for the Mandai Wildlife Reserve. Future phases include Rainforest Wild Africa, which will showcase Afro-Tropical and Madagascan landscapes, promising even more adventures for years to come.
