1. Putien
For a restaurant that lives up to its recognition for consistency over the years, it has to be Putien, for bagging the Michelin Star almost every year since 2016 thanks to their Kitchener outlet.
Renowned for their impeccable service and authentic Fujian cuisine, Putien started as a humble coffee shop eatery, before evolving into the beloved brand it is today. Must-orders include dishes like the Claypot Yellow Croaker Soup, Sweet & Sour Pork with Lychees and Deep Fried Pig’s Trotter with Salt and Pepper and Steamed Duotou Clam with Minced Garlic. While all these might sound mouthwatering, health-conscious folks would also be relieved to know that every single dish at Putien is MSG-free!
With prices per pax ranging between S$20 to S$50 depending on portions, Putien is definitely worth a visit to see what the fuss is all about.

2. Kam’s Roast
Turn anywhere in Singapore and you’ll likely find your typical chicken rice hawker stall. But for some of the absolute best roast meats and a Michelin guide approved option, visit Kam’s Roast, nestled among the many Asian delights you can find in Jewel Changi Airport.
Hailing from Hong Kong where the restaurant was awarded the Michelin Star consecutively since 2015, Kam’s Roast serves up roast duck, suckling pig and charcoaled char siew prepared fresh daily and at affordable prices. This makes it a perfect choice for family reunions and big gatherings. Highlights for your tastebuds are definitely the tasty marinade and seasoning, as well as the crispy skin that is proof of the careful process of preparing the various meats.
You must make a point to try their Singapore-exclusive Wonton Noodles at your next visit, as it is airflown daily from Hong Kong to ensure the eggy freshness. Talk about dedication.

3. Candlenut
Candlenut is another restaurant note-worthy of their one Michelin-Star award, since it is the first Peranakan restaurant in the world to earn the accolade. Chef Malcolm Lee heads the kitchen to whip up specialty delights such as Chap Chye (a mixed vegetable dish) (S$20), Assam Sotong (squid in sweet tamarind sauce) (S$24), Blue Swimmer Crab Curry (S$32) and Buah Keluak Fried Rice (buah keluak is a nut) (S$24). No problem if you can’t decide on a selected few dishes – opt for the 20-course tasting menu instead so you can sample a little bit of everything.

4. Shiki Hototogisu Ramen
If you’re craving for a bowl of hot piping ramen, you have to try the variety of signature ramen at Shiki Hototogisu Ramen. The Sobahouse Kiniro Hototogisu (the parent shop from Tokyo which received the Michelin Star) was the third ramen shop in the world to earn the honours, a testament to the dedication of the chefs to delight patrons with this signature Japanese dish.
Have a taste of the ramen and specialty dishes at one of the eight outlets located across Singapore, with each offering specialty items on the menu that are unique to each outlet.
There is a branch at basement 1 of Jewel Changi Airport and it features ramen dishes featuring seasonal ingredients, priced at S$15.90 each – Cherry blossom (Spring), young bittergourd and bamboo shoot (Summer), mushrooms and porcini (Autumn), and salmon (Winter).
A plus for dining at the outlet in Jewel? You can enjoy a view of the Rain Vortex while you slurp on your noodles!

5. Hill Street Tai Hwa Pork Noodle
We can’t possibly publish this feature without giving a shout out to Hill Street Tai Hwa Pork Noodle – a bak chor mee (noodles with minced pork and ingredients) stall that managed to clinch the Michelin Star in 2016 and has been able to keep it every year since then.
A bowl of noodles from Tai Hwa starts from S$6, one of the cheapest One Michelin-starred finds in the world! Although it is a tad more expensive than your usual hawker stall, you will get a hearty bowl of noodles packed with generous portions of minced pork, sliced lean pork, meatballs, liver and wantons.
This stall is a crowd favourite among locals and travellers, so visit early or you will need to be prepared to queue for at least 30 minutes.
