There's nothing quite like karaoke sessions to pull people together in Singapore. Solid atmosphere, company and tunes? Certainly a recipe for fun — and one of the activities that we just can't help but want more of. 

At long last, karaokes are finally back in business and we’ve waited far too long for this moment. Portable KTV systems may have temporarily helped to soothe the itch for singing out loud these past few years, but that will still never beat the feeling of some chaotic off-tune crooning with friends. And while some favourites like Manekineko may have closed down, the new ones on the block opened now will surely fill the gap (and our hearts), among the longstanding classics.

In this piece, we sifted out some of the best karaoke places in Singapore for you to sing your heart out. And if you’re looking for fun things to do after midnight in Singapore, this is it!

1. K.STAR Karaoke

With two outlets at Orchard Central and Plaza Singapura, K.STAR Karaoke is a new kid on the block that you should definitely keep your eyes peeled on. So if you’re in Bugis for a shopping spree or a casual day out, there’s a KTV near you if you’re looking to spice up your outing. Described as “psychedelic with a touch of underground funk”, this is where you’ll find trippy, eclectic rooms decked out in neon lights, with themes like galaxy, anime, retro and more.  Surely, these fun rooms make for great photo opportunities too, so have your monopods and tripods ready!

K.STAR even offers customised event experience packages priced at S$118++ and S$238++ (depending on which room you’re going for). These are perfect for special occasions like birthday parties or even company outings.

What makes K.STAR even more special is the fact that they’ve got their own in-house minimart. Talk about convenience. Feeling peckish between tunes? You’ll get to fuel up on Korean or Japanese snacks—anything from bottled iced tea to spicy Samyang cup noodles to keep you fired up to sing even more.

2. Havefun Karaoke

True to its name, it’s all about fun here at this particular KTV outlet. Like K.STAR, you’ll find themed rooms at HaveFun Karaoke. In fact, it has been distinguished as Singapore’s first themed karaoke bar. You’d get to pick from a total of 76 spacious theme rooms such as Old Cinema, Street Racing and All Pink Palace.

But here’s another twist: there’s more to just singing here. Beyond being just a place to sing, it’s also a multi-entertainment spot filled with a variety of amenities for a boozy night out. What that means is that you’d get to play popular drinking games such as Beer Pong and Drinking Roulette, or even enjoy a match or two at their pool table, dart and basketball machines. Whichever activity you pick, they all make for great pastimes as you wait for your go-to song to come on screen.

3. 7th Heaven KTV and Bar

Unlike the other KTV chains, 7th Heaven operates as a cafe during the day and a restaurant-bar at night. Combining karaoke singing with solid food, they’ve got 15 private karaoke/dining rooms where friends and family can get together for some wholesome bonding sessions. Most KTV places in Singapore rarely emphasise food, but that’s certainly not the case here. Located in the east — specifically, SAFRA Tampines — 7th Heaven KTV and Bar offers an extensive menu with cafe favourites like Truffle Fries (S$10.90), Crab Meat Linguine (S$17.90) and Lychee Smoked Duck Pizza (S$21.90). 

Coffee lovers, you’ll even get to order an Iced Cold Latte (S$7.50) for an extra dose of energy to last through hours long of singing. The 15 private rooms each come with free Wi-Fi, card/board games, a gaming console, and an excellent sound system. Got a party you’re planning? There’s more than enough entertainment here. 4. Teo Heng

What’s a KTV listicle without mentioning one of Singapore’s well-loved and homegrown chains, Teo Heng? For many of us, Teo Heng’s likely been a hotspot not only during our awkward teenage years but even in adulthood too. 

With its affordable room rates, drinks, snacks and a strict no-alcohol and smoking policy, Teo Heng is pretty much appropriate for all age groups. It’s no wonder why it attracts a large crowd, families with young children included. All of that, plus its wide selection of songs—anything from classic Mandopop to Pop Punk and even children’s tunes if you’re bringing the little ones along with you. Best of all, there are a ton of Teo Heng outlets located across the island, including JCube, Suntec City and Causeway Point. That means you’ll easily find one located near you.

5. Cash Studio

A revolving disco ball, multiple screens and a standing microphone are some iconic things that Cash Studio has been known to offer. Not only that—customers can even choose from a variety of lighting options, whichever best suits their mood. One of the more popular ones is “dynamic”, a feature where lights pulse and rotate to the beat of the music. 

Apparently, they’ve also got the widest variety of Japanese songs available thanks to the use of a Daiichikosho-produced Karaoke System; a brand that’s one of the largest producers of Karaoke machinery in Japan. Though largely family-friendly, do note that Cash Studio does allow alcoholic drinks in its establishments. There’s anything from beer to soju and cocktails, along with non-alcoholic selections like hot ginger tea (S$7.90++) and red date tea (S$7.90++).

Food-wise, you’ll find finger food like seaweed chicken, sausages and fries, as well as simple mains like Hong Kong-style egg noodles (S$6.90). That said, customers are also welcome to bring their own food and drink if that’s what they prefer.

6. Party World KTV

Another popular KTV chain is Party World—a company that’s been in business since 1992. 

There are a total of four room sizes: S, M, L and VIP; each differing in size, but all equally relaxing in terms of atmosphere. Picture large sofas that stretch across the entire room, and perhaps even a pool table! 

Like most places, you’ll find a gamut of drinks (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic), along with mixed snack platters like nuggets to go along with those top hits. Their rooms are known to be spacious, sporting huge LCD displays and LED warm lighting. All in all, it’s got what you need for a memorable night out in Singapore.
