Things to do in Quanzhou
Quanzhou is well known as the starting point of the ancient Maritime Silk Road and as a vibrant global maritime trade centre from the 10th to 14th centuries. In 2021, UNESCO inscribed "Quanzhou: Emporium of the World in Song-Yuan China" on its World Heritage List, featuring 22 historical sites and monuments across the city.
The World Heritage Status and Quanzhou’s rich cultural heritage have propelled it to become one of the most popular emerging tourist destinations in China, attracting both domestic and international travellers.
Of the many things to do in Quanzhou, a must-visit, especially for history buffs, is the Quanzhou Ancient City. Beyond its historical treasures, Quanzhou offers a vibrant cultural scene with captivating local opera performances, like the renowned Quanzhou Nanyin, and a delectable culinary scene known for its fresh seafood dishes, reflecting the city's long maritime history.
