Burgers, fries, milkshakes, wings — the cornerstones of any nutritious meal. We’re kidding, of course, but we all know that when the craving for fast food hits, it’s no joke.
Food options at Jewel Changi Airport are aplenty, whether you’re looking for a fancy restaurant or a quick bite when you’re feeling peckish. But if you need fast food in Singapore, stat, Jewel has you covered too. Where better than Changi Airport to sample some of the best fast food the world has to offer?
From Shake Shack to Jinjja Chicken; MOS Café to A&W, let your diet take flight for a little while and indulge in some culinary guilty pleasure.
1. Shake Shack
Out of all the Jewel Changi Airport restaurants, we can safely say that the arrival of the first Shake Shack outlet in Singapore was the most anticipated one. What was once a hot dog cart in New York has since exploded into a fast food chain with franchises all over the world, including right here.
Having made its Singaporean debut in Changi Airport back in 2019, the Shake Shack menu at Jewel carries famous classics like the exquisite ShackBurger, the sumptuous Shack-cago Dog, as well as the addictive Crinkle Cut Cheese Fries.
The must-try item exclusive to Singapore, however, is the Pandan Shake: vanilla frozen custard ice cream blended with pandan, coconut, and topped with gula melaka crumble.
Since premium ingredients that are free of hormones or antibiotics are used for all its burgers and dogs on the menu, eating at Shake Shack is healthy after all. But you can still treat yourself by getting some craft beer and a selection of wine to go along with your guilt-free fast food on your next dinner date at Jewel.
Address: Jewel Changi Airport, #02-256
Opening hours: Opens daily from 10:30am to 10:00pm
2. A&W
Speaking of hyped-up arrivals of fast food chains, we’d be remiss if we didn't talk about everyone’s favourite purveyor of root beer floats. A&W made its big return to our shores 16 years after it left in 2003, and Singaporeans haven’t looked back since.
The American fast food giant made its comeback with a massive 80-seater restaurant in Jewel. Whether you were old enough to have patronised A&W back then or not, everyone should be able to appreciate classics such as Coney Dogs (hot dogs topped with thick beef sauce), Mozza Burgers (double beef patties, mozzarella, the works) and the quintessential curly fries.
A trip to A&W wouldn’t be complete without its signature root beer (freshly made in-store daily) that’s served in a chilled, frosty mug and a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top.
Thankfully, the hype since its opening has died down a little and you no longer have to wait in line for hours to get your hands on some ice-cold root beer and curly fries at Jewel. Plus, A&W has been halal-certified in Singapore, so everyone can enjoy the treat!
Address: Jewel Changi Airport, #B2-209
Opening hours: Mondays to Fridays – 10:00am to 11:00pm, Saturdays and Sundays – 9:00am to 11:00pm
3. Jinjja Chicken
For more fried chicken options, look no further than Jinjja Chicken at Jewel. The chain restaurant that offers South Korean culinary classics (think bibimbap and jjamppong) as well as street food like kimbap and tteokbokki, using only ingredients sourced from Korea.
And, of course, Korean-style fried chicken wings too in all its sweet, spicy goodness. They come in three flavours — the sweet and savoury Soy Garlic, the sticky and spicy Yangnyeom, and the mouth-numbingly hot Monster. Maybe only try that last one if your spice endurance is high enough.
Ultimately, Jinjja Chicken is a great place for a halal-certified South Korean feast if you’re heading down to Jewel — just imagine ordering big batches of sauced-up fried chicken alongside bowls of rabokki and army stew.
If you’d like more traditional fast food fare, there are burgers too. Even one with a tofu patty for those looking for something plant-based.
Address: Jewel Changi Airport, #B1-247
Opening hours: Mondays to Fridays – 11:00am to 9:30pm, Saturdays, Sundays & Eve of Public Holidays – 11:00am to 10:00pm
4. MOS Café
Everyone’s favourite purveyor of rice burgers found a home in Jewel. This Japanese fast food chain in Singapore may have changed up the menu to offer fancier options for its cafe concept, but their trademark premium freshness lives on.
Here you’ll find choices familiar to cafe regulars, with a MOS Burger twist. Healthy options include salad bowls with quinoa and grains, as well as grilled Teriyaki Chicken. Those looking for something more filling can order the likes of the Yakiniku Rice Bowl or the Chicken Vegetables Curry with Chicken Cutlet, which is a mouthful in both name and food portions.
You can’t go wrong with the classics either. Favourites like the Teriyaki Chicken Burger, cheesy Wagyu Burger and Yakiniku Rice Burger are on the menu as well, albeit served with fries and salad on proper plates instead of the usual baskets. Impossible burgers are available too for the plant-based crowd.
Because it’s a cafe, the coffee and dessert options are just as extensive. Beyond MOS Burger’s signature iced milk tea, patrons can indulge in iced dalgona coffee, gourmet coffees, fruit smoothies, a tofu donut (which sounds absolutely intriguing) and many more.
Address: Jewel Changi Airport, #B2-211
Opening hours: Mondays to Fridays – 11.00am to 9:00pm; Saturday, Sunday & Public Holidays – 10:00am to 9:00pm
Even as your tastebuds move toward the trendy, healthy likes of kale and quinoa, sometimes what you need is just a good old juicy burger or chicken wings deep-fried to perfection. Feel no guilt with fast food — you know you deserve it in these trying times. Whet your appetite at these fast food options at Jewel Changi Airport with your loved ones, friends and family.
