While it is not the easiest to stick to a workout plan for the whole year, any progress is better than no progress. If you need some extra motivation to exercise, maybe it is time for you to shop for some new sportswear! And for those starting a new sport or new routine, it might be helpful to get appropriate activewear to suit your new needs.

From the big brands to the mega all-in-one sports retailers, and even some options dedicated to the ladies, here are some of the best places in Singapore where you can find and buy a wide selection of sportswear.

For the streetwear-minded #fitspo crowd

1. Adidas Performance @ Jewel Changi Airport

If you’re looking for sportswear that looks just as stylish as it is functional, look no further than Adidas. The renowned streetwear brand has set up its sportswear flagship store at Jewel Changi Airport.

Its line of apparel offers style and comfort in spades – while it may seem intimidating for newbies, its carefully categorised selections will allow you to easily shop for the right clothing for your workout.

Its catalogue can be sorted by type of active sport: football, running, basketball, and gym training. Alongside its house brand offerings, it also stocks items from its designer-driven offshoot Y-3, and a slate of sportswear made entirely out of sustainable materials.

Its signature sweatpants are offered to both men and women, in tapered or loose fits, depending on which makes it more comfortable for you to break a sweat.

The Adidas Performance store in Jewel is worth a visit, with its undeniably sleek interior and helpful sales staff who will be able to guide you through the right gear to buy. And with its rare location in the east of Singapore – other Adidas Performance stores are mostly in town – this sportswear destination is assuredly a no-brainer for many of you.

2. Nike @ Jewel Changi Airport

Of course, no sportswear collection is complete without some Nikes!

Whether or not you’re at a Nike store for some running shoes, or looking for some activewear to keep you comfortable during a workout, the brand has rigorously maintained its high standard in streetwear and sportswear for all.

Its flagship store at Jewel Changi Airport is packed with stylish gear and equipment, backed by the brand’s signature cutting-edge look, and its offerings are spread out across two levels in a sparkling and stylish duplex store.

This specific flagship outlet is a first in Southeast Asia, so you will be able to find all sorts of gear that are only available in Singapore.

Its second level is dedicated entirely to its line of basketball gear and equipment, so for all local LeBron James wannabes, you will not want to miss this section of the store!

Like the more lifestyle-centric brands, you can also customise your Nike gear at the store in Jewel at the Nike By You customisation area – available for cotton t-shirts to custom shoelaces.

For the all-rounded sports junkies

3. Decathlon Singapore @ Kallang (Decathlon Singapore Lab)

When it comes to sportswear by the thousands, no other brand can fulfil that benchmark like Decathlon. While the brand is a familiar sight at most shopping malls in Singapore, none can compare to its flagship outlet in Kallang, which is arguably the most futuristic and comprehensive sportswear destination in Singapore.

Named the Decathlon Singapore Lab, it offers an awe-inspiring selection of affordable sportswear, along with gym, camping and other sports equipment. The entire building runs at 5,000sqm, which, according to Decathlon, is the size of four Olympic-sized swimming pools. While Decathlon outlets are not hard to find around the island, there is no doubt that this Kallang flagship has their most complete inventory yet.

The store is built for accessibility and innovation – take advantage of its In-Store Experience Zones, where you can try out equipment and accessories for sports like archery, roller-blading, cycling and badminton with your friends.

Its inventory robot ensures everything is kept in stock, while online orders are fulfilled with the help of an overhead conveyor belt.

4. Royal Sporting House @ Tanglin Mall

Sometimes, the classics are still the best. And in this case, Royal Sporting House – a true-blue Singaporean company – has remained strong in the field of sportswear since 1977.

We’re sure you’ve seen one of its many outlets across the country. However, for the best Royal Sporting House experience, we recommend taking a trip down to its headquarters at Tanglin Mall – unlike, say, heading to check out the stores carrying only one brand, Royal Sporting House has these brands and more all under one roof.

The company has adapted to the times, with a full-fledged online store for you to browse, along with a modern look to its Tanglin flagship that was unveiled in 2017 – 40 years since it first opened.

Like some of the stores on this list, Royal Sporting House’s massive space allows for a more hands-on experience for customers. For example, you can test out running shoes on the store’s treadmill to see if its comfort level is to your liking. It also hosts in-store events like talks and clinics, along with specialised services that provide tennis racket recommendations.

If you’re particular about sportswear brands, the store stocks items from some of the largest athletic designer apparel brands like Nike, Adidas, Reebok, Wilson, Under Armour, along with a whole range of equipment. You can find tennis rackets, gym backpacks, bike equipment and much more here.

Address: 163 Tanglin Rd, #01-21/24 Tanglin Mall, Singapore 247933
Opening hours: Monday to Thursday - 10:30am to 9:00pm,  Friday to Sunday - 10:00am-9:00pm

This is purely for the ladies! Perk by Kate, a homegrown brand specialising in lingerie, recently unveiled its collection of athleisure clothing.

The ‘In Pursuit Of’ collection is essentially sportswear made for women who want to look good and feel good when they’re active – whether it’s for the gym, yoga, indoor and outdoor cycling, and various sports.

Having made a name for itself in making lingerie tailor-made for women of all sizes, the brand launched its collection in hopes that women get more aesthetic options when it comes to activewear.

It’s clothes you can wear to the gym, or to a weekend brunch date with your friends.

Its items are made out of 100% sustainable materials, and are pieced together carefully by its trusty band of seamstresses in Vietnam.

6. GLOWco @ Tampines

Sportswear options in Singapore may be wide and diverse, but for a while, there were not many customisable options for female Muslims, especially for those who observe wearing the hijab on a daily basis.

Local brand GLOWco answered this calling, offering an entire selection of sportswear suitable for Muslim women who are looking to incorporate an active lifestyle.

The company’s founder, who is also a fitness instructor, Nawal Alhaddad, came up with the brand when she found that her fellow hijab-wearing clients found it difficult to exercise in their usual attire.

“Their hijab wouldn’t stay and their outfits would ride up uncomfortably exposing some areas of their body - leaving them drenched in sweat, feeling hot and uncomfortable,” she explains on Glowco’s website.

To answer this, GLOWco devised a line of sports hijabs, with breathable and comfortable material (and in fashionable colours) that Muslim women can wear during their workouts. It also offers tops, sweatpants, and swimwear.

Alongside its shop, GLOWco also offers fitness classes, from dance to core strength training.

Whether you’re a gym junkie looking for the best fitness studios in town, or want an interesting cardio workout that’s outside your typical exercises, you now have a list of sportswear shops handy. Have fun and keep active!
